A young boy who possesses a supernatural power and calling himself the “Dark Flame Master”, or so he thought. Yūta Togashi is now entering high school and attempting to leave his delusions and fantasies behind him as to not embarrass himself like he did in junior high school and actually make friends. One night a girl descends onto his balcony at his apartment, this is the first of many encounters with Rikka Takanashi, a girl who as of yet entering high school has not caught a grip on reality and also lives in a similar fantasy as the of the recently retired “Dark Flame Master”. Upon entering high school these two end up in the same class as Rikka discovers Yuuta’s buried past and hopes to exhume it once more.
The animation has been only been getting better in the industry so it is hard to score any anime very low on this end unless they are really lackluster. The scenes that involved the perspective of any delusion was pretty good while sounds were great the music wasn’t memorable. The characters all have their roles and are substantial and compliment each other fairly well. Unfortunately all the supporting roles fall in the pit trap of having no impact as the story revolves around the main characters and don’t seem to make a big difference. Overall the anime is good and the story is great and though it may seem like fantasy or sci-fi at times this anime is 100% slice of life and hits really close to home for most people out there.
This anime may have delusions but in reality this anime gets 3 and a half Dashes of Battle out of 5.
